At Shwe we like to ensure that every client has the best opportunity to have a highly professional service in a friendly and courteous atmosphere. To achieve this we would ask all our clientele to keep in mind the following etiquette tips.
Please arrive a few minutes before your appointment time so you can be checked in before your treatment time or sun bed ready for it to begin at its allocated time.
We will do our best not to cancel or re-arrange your appointments and to run to time. We really appreciate you doing the same.
If you are late for your appointment, we cannot guarantee we can carry out your treatment or let you use the sun bed you booked for as this will mean the client after you will be held up and also waiting.
We understand that there are occasions when life gets hectic and plans have to change. However, we are a busy salon and it is unfair to both our staff and other clients when a client cancels last minute or misses their appointment and it is very difficult to fill appointments at short notice. We, therefore, have the below policies in place.
We will take your payment details at the time of booking an appointment with us and if you cancel, reschedule or miss an appointment with less than 24 hours' notice, we have the right to request payment in full for your appointment and we may request your next appointment be paid for in advance in full at the time of booking.
If you have a treatment course, and you cancel, miss an appointment or reschedule with less than 24 hours notice, your treatment will be removed from your course.
If you need to cancel, please give us a call on 01279 442844 or use our online booking system. Please don’t text, email or put a message on social media.
A deposit is required for all bookings. Deposits can be made over the phone at the time of booking, paid online, or in person at the salon.
Payment Details
Before we take your payment details to cover a cancellation charge or a deposit or advance payment, we will confirm:
• The service or treatment you have booked.
• The total price of the service or treatment booked.
• The time and date of the appointment.
We can securely store your card details
This new facility makes it easy to take deposits for future bookings and also offers a faster checkout after each appointment.
Phorest Payments are Powered by Stripe, who have the very highest security and Level 1 PCI Compliance. Neither our staff nor Phorest staff has access to the raw card details at any stage.
New clients 50% of the balance of the booking
Clients with two or more no-shows 50% of the balance of the booking.
Please note if you have had two or more no-shows we cannot override our system to take less than a 50% deposit.

If you cancel your appointment with more than 24 hours notice, deposits are refunded in full. This can take up to 5-10 working days for the funds to return to your account.
We require a £10 deposit for each booking and an additional £5 for every half an hour over one hour that your treatment is booked for,
You can use your deposit to pay for the treatment you have booked, or you can keep your deposit on your account and roll this over to your next appointment.
If you have paid a cash deposit and you do not adhere to our cancellation policy, your deposit will be taken, and you will be required to pay the balance of your missed appointment and pay the balance in full for your next appointment in order for you to book future appointments with us.
If you have a sun bed course: If you miss your sun bed course appointment, your Sun Angel session or the usual number tanning minutes based on your last visit will automatically be deducted from your account.
Cancelling/rescheduling sun bed and Sun Angel appointments: We require a minimum of 2 hours notice for cancellations of these appointments, otherwise you may be charged in full for your appointment.
You can cancel or change your booking online in My Booking History up to 24 hours in advance of your visit. If you fail to adhere to our 24-hour online booking cancellation policy, we have the right to charge you the balance of your booking amount left to pay in the salon by way of your online payment method.
We do not permit any of our sun bed courses to be shared between clients.
We also do not allow more than one person in the Sun Bed room at a time. If there is another person in the room with you, we will not start the bed until they are out. This is for your safety.
Please arrive online for your sun bed or beauty treatment. Turning up late will shorten your treatment or sun bed time if you have booked in advance. If you're too late, you may not have time to have any sun bed or treatment at all and we may ask you to reschedule.
Please bear in mind that if you are late, your treatment/sun bed will end on time so the next client isn’t delayed.
For your safety, the maximum weight we can allow on any of our sun beds is 20 stone (280lbs / 127kg).
The maximum weight limit for our beauty treatment beds, is 19.6 stone (275lbs / 125kg)
We request that clients under 16 are accompanied by an adult and that Parents / Guardians sign their consultation forms.
We do not perform intimate waxing treatments on any clients under the age of 18. Please bring your ID to your first treatment.
Shwe Tan encourages responsible tanning. Sun beds are for over 18's only.
If you are lucky enough to look under 25, ID will be required on your first visit.
There are no exceptions to this rule, so please come prepared otherwise unfortunately we will have to turn you away.
We only accept the following forms of ID at Shwe Tan:
• Provisional Driving Licence / Driving Licence
• Passport
Our staff are trained in Gelish Nails. We do not under any circumstance remove or work on acrylic nails at our salon as we do not have the products and tools to carry this out.
We recommend that you return to the salon where you had the acrylics applied then book with us for Gels at least one day after as removal of acrylic, as this dries out the nail.
Patch Tests are required 48 hours prior to any tinting or eyelash treatment.
Under no circumstance will a client be allowed to have a tint or Lash extensions carried out without having a patch test. From time to time ingredients may change in the products which we use, and we may request clients to have another patch test.
We provide paper knickers for our female clients. We politely request that these or your own underwear are worn as an absolute minimum during your Spray Tan.
We politely request that you wear pants or shorts as an absolute minimum during your Spray Tan.
We are proud to provide male waxing treatments of the highest standards. In order for us to do this we kindly ask that you read and adhere to the following rules of etiquette during your treatment:
Please assist your therapist by following her instructions and aiding her as directed.
Please be mindful of the questions you ask and the conversations you engage in.
Please do not touch the therapist in any way during your treatment. We aim to make your treatment as painless as possible but also understand that waxing can cause discomfort. We ask that you refrain from reaching out to your therapists at these times.

Please turn your mobile onto silent mode before entering our salons. We want to make certain all clients can relax whilst having their treatments carried out.
For the health and safety of all and the goal ambience of our salons, we regret to inform you that children cannot be left to sit in reception on their own whilst clients have a sun bed or treatment.
Children are not permitted to enter our sun bed rooms at Shwe Tan at any time.
Please do not ask staff to keep an eye on your children as we will have to politely decline. None of our staff are suitably qualified for childcare and they cannot be responsible for your children whilst working.
Clients are advised to use the two local car parks in Old Harlow which have 1 hour's free parking 8am – 5pm and free parking from 5pm on weekdays and all weekend.
Wayre Street car park is directly behind our salon, and Garden Terrace Road car park is beside the doctors.
